How to Increase Your Income (5 Mindset Shifts)
Wake Up with a Purpose Everyday
Do you wake up feeling lost? Do you often wonder if your life has meaning? Do you ever think that what you wake up doing is what you were meant to do?
You're not alone.....
The two greatest days in your life is the day you were born and the day you find your purpose.
Life can get frustrating when you're constantly doing things you hate (like a job) with any true meaning why you're doing it.
It's the classic trap most of us fell victim to.
Society tells us to go to school, get a degree, and get a "good job" then live the American Dream.
"The meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away." - Pablo Picasso
Years goes by for us to wonder how we got to a place where we're doing the same thing over and over again without meaning only to pay bills.
Is that the American Dream?
No matter how long it takes, it's important that you find your purpose and realize why we're here.... why we exist.
Studies proves that realizing your purpose promotes good health and longevity.
Finding your purpose helps you create more adventure and excitement in your life. Gives you the ability to work and collaborate with the people the fit your purpose.
Best of all..... you don't have to quit your job to do it. Fitting your purpose into your schedule is a great strategy.
Get Clear on Your Goals
Do you have goals but never seem to start working on them or never complete them?
You're not alone....
It's likely this is happening because you're not clear on what your goals truly are.
Getting clear on your goals is another way of saying writing your goals down "exactly" as you intend for them to be.
"People who very vividly describe or picture their goals are anywhere from 1.2 to 1.4 times more likely to successfully accomplish their goals."
Getting clear on your goals takes on two forms - 1) External formulation and 2) is encoding of your goals.
External formation comes in the form of being able to verbalize your goals taking it from your head and putting it on paper.
It's not enough to verbalize it to yourself, but more important for your to literally write it down.
The encoding process is the most important of the two because this is when you hard-wire the goal into your brain.
Being able to see your goal repetitively throughout the day is what allows your goal to come up in your memory and push you to action.
So if you haven't written your goals down, now is a great time to start.
Do you find yourself shying away from things you feel like you will fail at?
Things like starting a business? Taking on a new job with more difficulty? Losing weight or getting in shape? Starting a plan to get out of debt?
These are all symptoms of people traveling a path of the "unsuccessful".
Sounds a little harsh, but it's the truth.
"Security is mostly a superstition. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing." - Helen Keller
When you value safety over taking risk and experiencing failure, you will never find the success in your life you desire.
Albert Einstein said it best, "If you've never failed, then you've never tried anything new."
Trying new things, and embracing failure is where you increasing your ability to learn and opportunities to succeed in life.
Understanding this concept is so critical.
You can't prioritize your fear of failure over the experiences that comes with learning and excelling.
Be real with yourself.... are you embracing failure or running away from it?
If you're running away from it, just know you're running further away from your goals.
Invest, Learn & Execute (ILE)
The traditional way of learning can be a quite expensive one. We've been trained that every time we need to learn something new we need to go to an expensive college.
From experience that's completely not true.
I launched my first tech business as a non-tech founder but using the Invest, Learn, & Execute methodology you're about to learn.
Let's break this down.....
The invest (I) part, takes on two forms; 1) time and 2) money. Simply stating that when you're learning a new skill you're likely going to need both time and money.
There are many courses that are free, in fact most of my blog here has free content. But if you really want to get deep learning and master you will need to invest a little money.
Next learn (L), this is self-explanatory but there is an important element to this.
It's important that you master understanding how you learn best and how you retain information.
Simply sitting in front of a screen or reading something doesn't mean you're learning. Are you more of a hands-on learner? Are you visual? How do you learn best?
Master that and you're on your way.
Last and most important is executing (E). Investing time/money and learning is great, but without execution it means nothing.
This is where people fall short of reaching their goals. You MUST put them all together to reach the next level in your journey.
The ILE strategy has allowed me to create and achieve some amazing things in my life. And I know it will work for you too.
Remove Your Limiting Beliefs
Do you get excited about your BIG lofty goals but then start to hear the negative voices in your head?
You may hear things like.....
"No way I'm going to be able to do this?" "I don't know anyone that's personally done this." "Whom am I to accomplish something like this?"
These are all what you call limiting beliefs.
Many times we think other factors are holding us back; not enough time, lack of money, lack of skills, etc.
BUT.... in reality the thoughts in our heads is our biggest hurdle.
Removing those limiting beliefs is critical to achieving the success you want in life.
Changing those negative voices to positive voices of.... "I know I can do this...." "I am successful...." "I can achieve all the dreams I put my mind to..."
I know all 5 of these shifts in your mindset will allow you to increase your income because it continues to work for me to this day.
