It's hard to decide where to go on vacation because you have a million places on your bucketlist. It's hard to get things done because you allow other people to pull you in different directions. It's hard to make progress towards your goals because you allow other time wasting things distract you.
We are constantly bogged down with some many things to do during our precious 24 hours that we don't know if we're coming or going. For many, there's no emotion attached to it because they enjoy the comfort of being a living zombie. While others (like me) feel the tension of fear, anxiety and frustration of not sure if I'm in the right place or headed in the right direction.
The feelings of fear, anxiety and indecisivness steals the joy of confidence, happiness and sense of direction. This is why you must go to bed and wake up each day with a clear sense of where you're going and what you want to accoplish each day.
This is why you're exactly where you're supposed to be. For better or worse, you're made the committment to be here through your actions.
Your lack of security in your relationships, finances, career and many other life verticals are tied to this one commitment.
Instead of making excuses in my life, I have chosen to take responsibility that everything is my fault. My relationships, my career, my finances, all of it is my fault. This forces me to look inward as oppose to blaming or even worse relying on others.
We live in a time where we love to blame others like our friends, family and the government for our lack of happiness and completeness. Guess what... no matter who is in office (Democrat or Republican), they can't save you.
If you don't have a plan, a purpose or a sense of direction for who and what you want to be in life. You will still remain right where you are. You can forward all the posts you want and argue with as many people on social media about various topics.
This still doesn't change the inner-peace and growth within you. It just makes you better at arguing on social media instead of doing the most important thing..... creating a better YOU!
So... here is what I propose as a solution.
STOP whatever you're doing....
- Go grab a pen, a notepad and find to most quietest place in your house to have a seat. Start answering the following questions:
- What do I want out of life?
- What are the things that I do that gives me joy each day?
- What things (or people) that gives me the most stress each day?
- What's the ONE thing that I want most out of my life (career, finances, relationships, etc.)?
- At this very moment do I feel I'm on the right track with #5? Why or why not?
From there, develop a plan that you can follow for 30 days, then record how you feel and how much more clarity you have on a daily basis.
Your spouse, friends, family, co-workers and partners will see a significant shift in you as well. This will make room for you to achieve more goals, advancements in your career and improvement in your relationships.
You will be more present in the "presence" of others. Most importantly you will feel less anxiety, less fear and less indecisiveness. You will know without a doubt you are where you're suppose to be.
P.S. - Creating the best version of you is bigger than just you. The people around you benefit greatly from your committment to create a better you. Your fears and lack of growth is not only holding you back but you hold them back as well.
